WATERLOO - Gayland D. "Butch" Meester, 66, of Waterloo, formerly of rural Dike, died Thursday, Nov. 25 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was born May 17, 1944, in rural Dike, son of Henry and Tena DeVries Meester.

Mr. Meester lived at Fairway Group Home in Waterloo for about 20 years. He attended school at River Hills in Cedar Falls, volunteered at Goodwill Industries and was involved in Choice Daycare Facilities. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Reformed Church.

Survived by: a sister, Rosie (Marv) Aalderks of Parkersburg; and two brothers, Al (Shirley) Meester and Marv (Barb) Meester, both of Dike; seven nephews; and three nieces.

Preceded in death by: a great-niece.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, west of Fern, with burial in church cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center.
