DEVIN, WALTEMEYER, TESCH

CEDAR FALLS - Thomas James Devin, 64, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born July 6, 1946, in Marshalltown, son of James H. and Edna M. Waltemeyer Devin. He married Jewel B. Tesch July 10, 1971, in Muscatine.

He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1964 and received a bachelor of science degree from Missouri State College in 1968. He served four years in the U.S. Navy including a year tour in the Brown Water Navy in Vietnam. He received an industrial arts teaching certification from UNI in 1973 and taught in Fort Myers, Fla., and Ottumwa. He coached middle school track and girls basketball in Ottumwa. Mr. Devin was a machinist at Doerfer Engineering and manager of print services with Hawkeye Community College, retiring in 2002. In retirement, he worked part-time at Younkers in Cedar Falls for five years.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Michael of Walnut Creek, Calif.; a brother, Dr. J.P. (Irene) Devin of Laramie, Wyo.; two nephews; a niece; and a brother-in-law, James Tesch of Conway, Ark.

Celebration of Life: 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls. There will be no visitation. His body was cremated.

Memorials: may be directed to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa or American Heart Association/IA division.
