LA PORTE CITY — Johnnie H. Gimm, 82, of La Porte City, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born Aug. 14, 1928, in Black Hawk County, son of Frederick and Anna Cohrt Gimm. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and had farmed in the La Porte City area for 65 years.

Survived by: two sisters, Marie Eighmey of Dewar and Eleanor (Duane) Albertsen of Dysart.

Preceded in death by: his parents; a nephew, Dennis Albertsen; and a brother-in-law, Richard Eighmey.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at American Lutheran Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Military rites will be conducted by Mount Auburn Emil H. Dutler American Legion Post 177. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at La Porte City Funeral Service and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
