WATERLOO - Dennis L. "Denny" Buenneke, 65, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, at home of cancer.

He was born March 17, 1945, in Waterloo, son of Fred and Nettie McGowan Buenneke. He married Sandra K. Foutch on Jan. 7, 1967, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1963. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Mr. Buenneke worked for Viking Pump Co. in Cedar Falls for 34 years, retiring in March 2007. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Dawn Landis of Waterloo; a grandson, Jacob Landis of Waterloo; and two sisters, Jill (Bill) Barrett of Cedar Rapids and Crystal Buenneke-Roux of California.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Kim Buenneke; and a sister, Lola Buenneke.

Services 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Waterloo, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery with full military honors. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, Waterloo, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church. The family requests casual dress.

Dennis was an avid reader. He loved watching football, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers, and enjoyed NASCAR. He was a loyal friend and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
