OPPOLD, THOMPSON, BOEHLER, BROCKEY

WATERLOO - Patricia J. "Pat" Oppold, 86, of Waterloo and Port Charlotte, Fla., died Monday, Nov. 8, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Des Moines, daughter of George F. and Gladys F. Thompson Boehler. She married Robert L. "Bob" Oppold on Sept. 2, 1950, in Des Moines.

Mrs. Oppold graduated from Coone Rapids High School in 1942 and was on the Girls' Basketball State Championship Team. She attended Drake University. She was a WAVE in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She and her husband owned and operated Oppold Funeral Home from 1954 to 1990. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Equestrian Order of The Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

Survived by: her husband; two sons, Robert (Kathy) of Overland Park, Kan., and Joseph (Marion) of Melbourne, Fla.; six grandchildren, Greg (Kelly) Oppold, Elizabeth "Liz" (Denny) Lammert, Nathan Canestaro, Paul Oppold, Thomas (Laurie) Oppold and Peter (Vanessa) Oppold; and two great-grandchildren, Patricia Lammert and Briley Oppold.

Preceded in death by: a sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Stan Brockey.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. rosary, and 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a 3 p.m. Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil, all at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials: may be made to the church, Don Bosco High School or The Blessed Maria Assunta Pallotta Middle School.
