CEDAR FALLS - John Edward Hansen, 79, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 30, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of pancreatic cancer.

He was born Jan. 28, 1931, in Cedar Falls, son of Hans Peter and Marjorie Mae Miller Hansen. He married Virginia JoAnn Walther July 21, 1951. She died in 1996. He married Martha Albee July 3, 1998.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1949 and received a bachelor of arts degree from Iowa State Teachers College in 1953. He worked for several years at Waterloo Paper Co. and was an investment broker with A.G. Edwards, retiring in 1995 after 27 years. He was a member of Trinity Bible Church in Cedar Falls, performed in Community Theater, and appeared in several plays for Cedar Falls Community Theatre. He served on the Red Cross Board, The Western Home Foundation Board and the Cedar Falls Community Theatre Board.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Larry Hansen of Des Moines; two daughters, Linda (Jerry) Ranslow of Faribault, Minn., and Jennifer (Dennis) Eslick of Cedar Falls; two stepdaughters, Ann (John) Woods of Waterloo and Sarah (Scott) Misener of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, Kyle (Cami) Eslick, Sarah (Shawn) Stumme, Kevin (Stephanie) Eslick, Danielle Ranslow, Joshua (Courtney) Misener, Benjamin (Lindsey) Woods, Jordan (Brynna) Misener, Amy Woods and Jacob Misener; and three sisters-in-law, Shirley Hansen of New Hampton, Lois Hansen of Cedar Falls and Nancy (Jim) Fox of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Dr. David M. Hansen and Charles A. Hansen.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Trinity Bible Church, Cedar Falls. Private family inurnment at Fairview Cemetery, Waterloo at a later date. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories is assisting the family.

Memorials: may be directed to Trinity Bible Church or Cedar Falls Community Theatre.

The family would like to thank the many wonderful friends and Cedar Valley Hospice.
