EVANSDALE — Francis "Jake" Jacobs, 81, of Evansdale, died Sunday, Oct. 31, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, following a long illness.

He was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Menomonie, Wis., son of Julius and Leona Wagner Jacobs. He married Frances Knock in Waterloo, and they later divorced. He married Mary Borwig on Nov. 11, 1969, in Chatfield, Minn.

Mr. Jacobs served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a toolmaker at John Deere, retiring in 1987. He was a lifetime member of Evansdale AMVETS Post 31.

Survived by: his wife; three daughters, Victoria (Jim) Ellis of Johnston, Carla (Mark) Bergmeier of La Porte City and Jennifer Jacobs of Evansdale; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Lane (Doris) of Richland, Wis; and four sisters, Milly Siler and Julie (Alan) Siler, both of Downsville, Wis., Sharon (Fred) Seegen of Boyceville, Wis., and Mary (Don) Small of Durand, Wis.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Dawn, in infancy; and a brother in infancy.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
