GILBERTVILLE — Merrill V. Frost, 68, of Gilbertville, died Monday, Nov. 1, at home.

He was born April 9, 1942, in Waterloo, son of Leander John and Magdalen Helen Schares Frost. He married Kathleen Oldfather on Sept. 4, 1965, at St. Nicholas Church, Evansdale. They later divorced.

He graduated from Don Bosco High School in 1960. He was a bartender at 10th Inning Wheel Lounge in Gilbertville.

Survived by: his mother, of Gilbertville; three sons, Rodney (Pam) of Minneapolis, Curtis (Julie) of Gilbertville and Troy (Shannon) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Patty (Blaine) Rhoads of Gilbertville; 15 grandchildren; four brothers, Ronald (Mary) and Anthony (LaDonna), both of Gilbertville, Lee (Laura) of Jesup and Randy (Diane) of Missouri; a brother-in-law, Gene (Virginia) Cunningham of Fairbank; two sisters, Mary Weber of Gilbertville and Helene (Louis) Reyes of Littleton; and two sisters-in-law, Tammy (Jon) Bronemann of Cedar Falls and Julie Frost of Gilbertville.

Preceded in death by: his father; two brothers, Irvin and Joseph; a sister, Marlene; and a brother-in-law, Tom Weber.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
