WATERLOO - Jack H. Fliehler, 94, of Lakeview Landing, died there Tuesday, Oct. 19.

He was born May 18, 1916, in Strawberry Point, son of Henry and Cassie Hughes Fliehler. He married Evelyn Holdiman on July 5, 1942, in Dunkerton. She died July 9, 1998.

Mr. Fliehler graduated from Strawberry Point High School in 1933 and received a bachelor's degree in science and commerce from the University of Iowa in 1939. He was employed as insurance and benefits manager for Rath Packing Co. for 43 years, retiring in 1982. He also was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was past elder. He was past president of Elders Inc. at Park Towers Apartment; the Lions Club from 1985-1986; and Waterloo High 12 Club in 1992. He was a member of Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Diplomats, Masonic Lodge 624, Scottish Rite, El-Kahir Shrine and El-Mecca Club, Allen Hospital volunteer, American Heart Association and Boy Scouts of America.

Survived by: a daughter, Ann Myers of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Gregg (Liz) of Rockford, Ill., and John (Mary Frances) of River Forest, Ill.; six grandchildren, Kelly (Francisco) Garcia, Emily (Jacob) Michaels, Matthew, Brian (Laurie), Alex and Jaime Fliehler; three great-grandchildren, Kika Garcia, Lev Michaels and Kylian Fliehler; and a brother, Almon of Strawberry Point.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Emogene Clossey; and a brother, Raymond.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Locke Funeral Home, with 5:30 p.m Masonic rites by Martin Lodge 624 AF&AM.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Friendship Village Foundation.
