WATERLOO - John C. Klinefelter, 82, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Lakeview Landing from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

He was born Nov. 28, 1927, in Waterloo, son of Carl and Mary Sibert Klinefelter. He married Marion F. Humiston on Aug. 26, 1950, at St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo. She died Aug. 22, 2008.

Mr. Klinefelter graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1946 and had managed Young Lumber. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees and was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.

Survived by: two sons, Scott of West Des Moines and Tim of Nevada; a daughter, Linda (Nelson) McCarty of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, Erin (Wes) Shaffer, Jon McCarty and Matt McCarty; and two great- granddaughters, Bella and Luna.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Helen and Jean.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Locke Funeral Home, with a 2 p.m. parish rosary.

Memorials: may be directed to the church, Alzheimer's Association or American Diabetes Association.
