CEDAR FALLS - Ricky J. Beard, 56, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Oct. 15, at Allen Hospital.

He was born Nov. 27, 1953, in Waterloo, raised by stepfather and mother, Cecil W. and Mary K. May Cox. He married Helene R. Morrow Oct. 27, 1972, in Waterloo.

He graduated from Denver High School in 1972, and was a machinist with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 30, retiring in 2002.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Seth of Cedar Falls; a granddaughter, Mary Waldron of Marshalltown; a sister, Linda (Anthony) Williams of Fort Smith, Ark.; and a half brother, Kenneth (Betty) Cox of Atlanta.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a son, Zachary William Beard.

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with inurnment at a later date. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial fund: has been established.
