to be held Thurs.
for Gene Taylor, 72

Memorial services for Gene Taylor, 443 Second Street, will be held Thursday, June 30, 1994, 11:00 a.m., at the Community Church of Hudson. Reverend Gerald Stevens will officiate. Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo will be in charge.

Gene passed away Monday, June 27 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

Mr. Taylor was born January 26, 1922 in Waterloo, the son of Stanley and Edith Bathen Taylor. He married Jean Loonan in Hudson on August 8, 1940. They are the parents of two children, James of Littleton,Colorado and Sandra Rogers, Hudson.

Gene was associated with Taylor-Isenhower, Inc., building bridges for 35 years retiring in 1987. He had worked for the American Soybean Association, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, served as City Clerk and was Mayor of Hudson from January 1978 to December 1893.

He was a member of Community Church of Hudson, Amvet Post 82, American Legion, Elks Club, Black Hawk Historical Society; Past president and 9 year board member and Life Member of Associated General Contractors; Past President of Black Hawk Council on Aging, member of Area Advisory Board for Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging; member of State Advisory Board of the Department of Elder Affairs, a longtime member of INRCOG and served on the Hudson Park Board.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, one son Jim, and one daughter, Sandi, four grandchildren: Cheryl McGlumphy, Dike, Chris Zempel, Reinbeck, Stephanie Potts, Cedar Rapids, Braden Rogers, Camp Lejuene, North Carolina; nine great-grandchildre: LeAnn, Rachel and Carrie McGlumphy, Colorado, Hunter and Tori Zempel, Jeremy, Jennifer and Jordan Potts; one sister Dorothy Huddleston of Carmichael, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a sister.

Family wills receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.

Interment will be at the Hudson Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Community Church of Hudson and Cedar Valley Hospice.
