WATERLOO - Alvin L. Spaulding, 82, of Waterloo, died Monday, Oct. 11, at ManorCare Health Services.

He was born July 13, 1928, in Waterloo, son of George and Hazel Bruce Spaulding. He married Sally Schuler on Dec. 1, 1951, in Waterloo.

Mr. Spaulding was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked at Goodwill for several years as a truck supervisor.

Survived by: his wife; three sons, Mark and Lee, both of Waterloo, and Guy Scott of Rake; four daughters, Hazel (Ralph) Ackerman of Shell Rock, Cindy Spaulding and Kandy Spaulding, both of Waterloo, and Peggy Sue O'Connell of Rake; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert of Waterloo; and two sisters: Evelyn Eilers of Florida and Nancy (Larry) Taylor of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Don; a half brother, George; and two sisters, Ethel Morris and Thelma Baylor.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, preceded by an hour of visitation. Military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19.

Alvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and he was lucky at gambling. He kept very busy and was always on the go. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
