EVANSDALE - Edna Rae Smock, 91, of Evansdale, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, Waterloo.

She was born Sept. 13, 1919, in Iowa City, daughter of Truman and Hazel Eliza Ray Fox. She married Donald Smock on May 18, 1940, in Nashua. He died Dec. 11, 2001.

Mrs. Smock was employed in the office at Rath Packing Co. for a brief time, and for the rest of her life she was a homemaker.

Survived by: a son, Tom (Bev) of Dunkerton; six daughters, Ardith (Steve) Cox of Omaha, Ark., Louise (Larry) Bright of La Porte City, Carman (Jerry) Knebel of Dunkerton, Peggy (Frank) Murdock of Camp Verde, Ariz., Shelley (Jim) Wach of Elk Run Heights and Terry (Frank) Sutton of Waterloo; 16 grandchildren, Mike (Kathy) Costello, Lori (Mike Foreman) Costello, Chris Cox, Todd (Cindy) Smock, Chad Smock, Dennis (Jane) Messingham, Courtney (Carol) Messingham, Dan Knebel, Joe (Caren) Knebel, Amy (Chris) Soppe, Dorie (Josh) Blair, Stacey (Aaron) Reicherts, Jenny Wach, Jamie (Chris) Snyder, Leon (Nicole) Sutton and Becca Sutton; 26 great-grandchildren with one more expected; and two great-great-grandchildren with one more expected.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Claude Truman Fox; and a sister, Nada Fox Carrell.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to Hospice Care Initiative or Grace Baptist Church.
