WATERLOO - Harold F. Handley Sr., 74, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, Oct. 11, at Sunnybrook of Adel.

He was born Oct. 2, 1936, in Lorimor, son of Myrtle and Harvey Handley.

Mr. Handley graduated from Lorimor High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958, a member of the 82nd Airborne. He moved to Waterloo in 1966 and retired from the city of Waterloo in 1999.

Survived by: his wife, Darlene, of Waukee; four daughters, Teresa Bieghler (Ron) of Urbandale, Kandy Ramirez (Dan) of Des Moines, Keli Lindeman (Jason) of Dysart and Jodi Oltrogge (Bob), also of Des Moines; a son, Harold Jr. (Cindy) of Cedar Falls; two stepsons, Arnold Ahrenholz of Des Moines and Randy Ahrenholz (Helen) of Waterloo; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Greater Des Moines, Johnston, with burial in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Iles Funeral Homes – Westover Chapel, Des Moines.
