LA PORTE CITY - Dorothy Deliliah Anderson Pratt, 88, of La Porte City, died Thursday, Sept. 30, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

She was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Sioux City, daughter of Gustaf G. and Delilah E. Hinkley Anderson. She married James T. Pratt in 1955; they later divorced.

She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1940 and earned bachelor's degrees from Nebraska State Teachers College in 1942 and Simmons College School of Retailing in Boston in 1949. She served during World War II with the U.S. Navy WAVES. She was an assistant bookkeeper at Western Union Telegraph Co. in Sioux City. She taught English for 25 years at Sioux City Community School, Riverside School until 1980 and West Middle School, retiring in 1987.

Survived by: a son, Jeffrey (Wendy) Pratt of La Porte City; and two grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Ormand G. Anderson.

Memorial services: 5 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls. Public visitation for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
