CEDAR FALLS - James R. "Jim" Friis, 62, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, at his home.

He was born July 30, 1948, in Cedar Falls, son of Robert and Rachel Hildebrandt Friis. He married Claudia Wendt Aug. 1, 1967, in Nashua.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1966. Mr. Friis worked in sales with Mid-Continent Bottlers, Simpson Furniture and Lance. Mr. Friis owned and operated Jim's Measuring Service as an independent contractor for Flooring Gallery in Waterloo.

Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Stacey Friis of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, Angela, Amanda and Tad Friis; a brother, Scott (Denise) Friis of Denver, Colo.; and a half brother, Denny (Rosalie) Hagenow of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: a son, Anthony "Tony" Friis; and a sister, Diana Fitzhugh.

Masonic service: 7 p.m. Wednesday conducted by Martin Lodge 624 AF & AM at Richardson Funeral Home. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
