CEDAR FALLS — Eloise Clare "Elly" Newton, 32, of Savage, Minn., formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Sept. 18, at Fairview Ridges Hospital, Burnsville, Minn., after a brief illness.

She was born April 17, 1978, in Waterloo, daughter of Mark Newton and Mary Hartman.

Ms. Newton graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1996 and later earned her culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu, Minneapolis. She worked as a sous chef at the Mendakota Country Club, Mendota Heights, Minn.

Survived by: her mother and stepfather, Mary Hartman and Steve King of Dysart; her father and stepmother, Mark and Marsha Newton of Cedar Falls; paternal grandparents, Richard and Mary Newton of Waterloo; a brother, Sam (Laura) Newton of Bloomington, Minn.; a nephew, Jack Newton of Bloomington; her border collie/German shepherd mix, Glory; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by: maternal grandparents, John and Ruth Hartman.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls, with inurnment later in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home.

Memorial fund: will be established at a later date.
