WATERLOO — Paul J. "Windy" Hoffman, 77, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Sept. 19, at Allen Hospital of cancer.

He was born March 27, 1933, in Centerville, son of John and Anna Smidt Hoffman. He married Dolores Wienands on Oct. 3, 1951, in Iowa City. She died June 10, 1999.

Mr. Hoffman was employed with John Deere for 32 years. He also owned Hoffman Lawn and Snow Removal Service and was part owner of D&L Sanitation. Most recently he was employed with Briteway Window Cleaning. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 105.

Survived by: a son, Michael (Deb) of Grundy Center; a daughter, Janyce (Loren) Homann of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Esther (Lavern) Gonnerman of Bondurant.

Preceded in death by: his parents; a brother and sister in infancy; and special friend, Emily Hackbarth.

Public Masonic service: 1 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway by Waterloo Lodge 105 A.F.&A.M., followed by a memorial service. Inurnment will be in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from noon until services Thursday at the funeral home.
