E. Horner, Died In
Waterloo Sunday

Thomas E. Horner died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Byron Pinkerton, 110 Hillcrest Apartments, Waterloo, Sunday morning at about 8 o'clock, and the news is indeed a shock to his many Osage friends.

The Horners moved to Osage in 1909 and lived here until 1927, when they moved to Waterloo. Mr. Horner worked as a pharmacist in the Brown & Lashbrrok Drug Store, first for Jess Lamberson, then for Mr. Brown and finally for the present partnership. He was of a most friendly, pleassant personality, and has a circle of friend here who will not soon forget him. It was only a few weeks ago that he spent a day in Osage calling on his old friends, and none had ay intimation that he was not in good health.

Mr. Horner was the seventh child of Sam and Elizabeth Branden Horner, and was born in August, 1860, near Unionville, Iowa. The family had moved from West Virginia and settled in Appanoose County in 1855. Upon completing his schooling, Mr. Horner took up the study of pharmacy.

He married Edith Bell Arnold, of Monroe County, August 8, 1889, and they have lived in Iowa during their entire married life.

Soon after their move from Osage to Waterloo, Mr. Horner accepted the position of manager of a drug store at Shell Rock, and he had been able to continue his work until a few weeks ago. His family had realized that his health was failing, and an examination at an Iowa City hospital showed his condition to be critical. The Horners closed their home then, and moved to Mrs. Pinkerton's apartment.

Surviving are the wife and five children: Robert, of Glendale, California; Brainerd, Mrs. Grace Pinkerton and Mrs. Margaret Geary, of Waterloo; and Mrs. Marian Miller, Chicago. A brother and three sisters also survive: W.S. Horner, Moravia; Mrs. Addie Brown, Jefferson; Mrs. Annie Huff and Mrs. Mary Walls, living in Cerro Gordo County.

Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon by the Reverend A. R. Graft, pastor of the Methodist Church at Shell Rock, and burial was made in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Waterloo.
