WATERLOO - Richard B. Taylor, 71, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Sept. 16, at Allen Hospital after a long illness.

He was born May 7, 1939, in Waterloo, son of Peter Dent and Frances Strohbehn Taylor of Geneseo Township, Buckingham. He married Janice M. McDonough in West Union in 1964.

Mr. Taylor graduated from Geneseo High School in 1957 and attended Iowa State University, prior to graduating from the University of Northern Iowa. He taught junior high and high school social studies in West Liberty, before spending 34 years as a manager and engineer at John Deere Waterloo Works.

Survived by: his wife; and four daughters Mary L. Taylor, Anne M. Taylor and Chris Limburg and Dawn M. Taylor.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, Peter Dean.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service.
