WATERLOO - Janis Gail Eicher Jennings Hansen, 62, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Cedar Valley Hospice House of cancer.

She was born Aug. 1, 1948, in Bloomington, Ill., daughter of Junior "Pat" and Romaine Anderson Eicher. She married Michael Jennings; they later divorced. She married Tom Hansen April 4, 1997, at the Botanical Center in Des Moines.

She graduated from Northeast High School in Lincoln, Neb. in 1966. She was vice-president of Beta Sigma Phi Social Sorority Xi Omega Chapter, president of Junior League and a band booster at West High School. She sold jewelry in Des Monies and Waterloo, and was an office assistant at Al Smith State Farm agency for 11 years.

Survived by: her husband; two sons, Brian (Elise) Jennings of Thornton, Colo., and Matthew (Erika) Jennings of Big Sky, Mont.; two daughters, Jennifer (Jason) Dixon of Fairbank and Danielle Fox of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Rainy of Thornton, Colo., and Matthew and Jack of Big Sky, Mont.; her mother, Romaine Eicher of Lincoln, Neb.; three brothers, Robert (Karen) Eicher of Glenwood City, Wis., Roger Eicher of Los Angeles and Thomas (Joyce) Eicher of Denton, Neb.; a sister, Connie (Bill) Crook of Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters-in-law, Shelley Hansen of Cedar Falls and Janis Hansen of Waterloo; and a brother-in-law, Paul Bliss of Oxnard, Calif.

Preceded in death by: her father, J. P. Eicher; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Hansen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Waterloo, with burial at a later date. Public visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories.

She enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, the outdoors, shopping, collecting angels and country dancing. Janis had a zest for life and her passion was her family.
