WATERLOO - Roger John Curran, 86, of Waterloo, died Friday, Aug. 27, at home.

He was born April 17, 1924, in Waterloo, son of Frank and Alvina Strohbehn Curran. He married Shirley Ann Stilson Sept. 7, 1956, in Austin, Minn.

He retired from John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works in 1986 with 25 years of service as a supervisor. He enjoyed being a member of the John Deere Supervisor's Club and the Waterloo Technical Society. He was an active member of Kimball United Methodist Church, served as chairman on the Board of Trustees for several years and was a member of the Men's Club.

Survived by: his wife; three daughters, Catherine Rae (Julian) Alvarez of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., Sara Ann Larson of Waterloo and Jean Ann (Charlie) Jamerson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sons, Michael John (Penny) Curran of Aledo, Texas and James Paul (Becky) Curran of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Wittenburg of Fairbank and Flo Schall of Waterloo; a brother, Gerald (Shirley) Curran of Overland Park, Kan.; and a sister-in-law, Joan Curran of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Thelma Hall; two brothers, Frank Curran and Leo Curran; and two sons.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice and Kimball United Methodist Church.

Roger enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Hobbies included working with cars and playing cards.
