Saturday for
Iris Sergeant

Services were held Saturday, November 9, 1996 at Hudson United Methodist Church for Iris L. Sergeant, 83 of 214 Eldora Road [Hudson]. She died Wednesday, November 6 at her home of natural causes. Reverend John Louk, Pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in Hudson Cemetery with Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, in charge of arrangements.

She was born May 30, 1913 in Pittsburg County, Oklahome, daughter of Charles E. and Charlotte Murphy Lunch. She married Donald B. Sergeant on November 5, 1933 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He died July 19, 1994.

Iris worked in the Utilities Office for the City of Hudson for ten years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Hudson United Methodist Church, Tuesday Study Club, Rebekahs, Sewing Circle, and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Hudson Depot Museum and the Community Senior Citizens Meals.

Iris is survived by two sons and their wifes, Robert and Carole, and Harlan and Sue, all of Hudson, six grandchildren, Sheila Cook of Harbor City, California, Diane Ramsey of Des Moines, Iowa, Amy Schilling of Hudson, Nicole and Todd Sergeant of Solon, Iowa, and Nick Distler of Hudson; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Cook of Harbor City, California and Megan Schilling of Hudson; two sisters, Vera Thomas of San Marcos, California and Oleta Pilikoski of Fresno, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Carl Lynch, and two sisters, Lurine Davis and Nita Lewetzow.

Memorials may be directed to the Hudson United Methodist Church.
