WATERLOO — Virginia Mae Haberstich, 79, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Aug. 22, at Rosewood Estate of a stroke.

She was born in Waterloo, daughter of George M. and Nella Hitt Breitsprecher. She married William Haberstich in 1949 at Burton Avenue Baptist Church.

She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1949. She worked for Rath Packing Co. for several years and retired from Santa Claus Industries in 1992 as the president’s secretary. She was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.

Survived by: her husband; two daughters, Vicki (Steve) Barfels of Hudson and Tami (Charlie) Thorsen of Bolivia, South America; a son, Jeff (Karla) of Harrisville, Utah; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Stafford of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Max Breitsprecher.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.
