Alma L. Henwood, 93, longtime resident of Waterloo and recently of Chicago, passed away Aug. 23, 2010. Born in Chalmers, Ind., Sept. 2, 1916, to Clarence and Edna Burget, Alma graduated from Chalmers High School in 1934 and from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., in 1938. She married George L. Henwood Dec. 20, 1941, in Delphi, Ind.

Alma was active in Westminster Presbyterian Church, delivered Meals on Wheels, had been a member of B.H. TTT Society and was active as a mediator in small claims court. She was a member of several bridge clubs and volunteered at Covenant Medical Center. She was employed for many years at West High School, Waterloo.

Alma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Wilmer Burget. She is survived by her two sons, Stephen of Dubuque and David of Chicago.

A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, Sept. 1, 10 a.m. at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel.
