WATERLOO - Gordon Dunbar, 74, died Saturday (Sept. 30, 2000) at the Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center, Waterloo, of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Ave., Waterloo, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and will resume an hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Gordon was born May 29, 1926, in Mason City, the son of Jesse William and Ruby Lillian Whipple Dunbar.

He married Sina J. Bushnell on April 25, 1948, in Mason City. She preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 1994.

Gordon was a World War II Air Force veteran and a 1944 graduate of Mason City High School.

He was owner/operator of Karpetkleen in Waterloo for over 25 years and had previously been employed as the circulation manager for the Des Moines Register in Waterloo.

Gordon is survived by a son, Dave Dunbar, of Olathe, Kan.; a daughter, Jane Baty, of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Dunbar of Elkhart, Ind., and Gale Dunbar of Wichita, Kan; and four sisters, June Davenport of Waterloo, Reva McMahon of Bolingbrook, Ill., Marcele Wald of Yuba City, Calif., and Joanne Clapper of Santa Ana, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Vera Chehok, Frances Funk and Jessie Graham.
