WATERLOO - Esther Biersner, 98, of Waterloo, formerly of Dike, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born July 16, 1912, in Stratford, daughter of Olof and Christine Olson Westrum. She married Alexander Biersner Aug. 12, 1930, in Nashua. He died Dec. 30, 1986.

She was a homemaker and a member of Dike United Methodist Church.

Survived by: two daughters, Donna Bausman of Wellsburg and Avonell Biersner of Des Moines; four sons, Earl Biersner of Cedar Falls, Marlyn "Sam" (Agnes) Biersner of Dike, Ed Biersner of Hemet, Calif., and James (Berdene) Biersner of Dike; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son, Roger Biersner; four daughters-in-law, Charlotte, JoAnn, Esther and Mary Biersner; a son-in-law, Lawrence Bausman; two grandchildren, John and Terry Biersner; a brother, Glenn Westrum; and two sisters, Velva Westrum and Elsie Long.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Dike United Methodist Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
