CEDAR FALLS — Tim "Skinny" Van Dorn, 64, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Aug. 16, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born Oct. 17, 1945, in Waterloo, son of Lyle and Dorothy Holland Van Dorn. He married Genevieve "Genny" Christen Feb. 28, 1970, in Waterloo.

Mr. Van Dorn graduated from Waterloo Columbus High School in 1963 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He was employed with Cedar Falls Fire Department, retiring in July 1994.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Todd (Jill) Van Dorn of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Michelle (Todd) Gebhardt of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren; two sisters, Rita (Kenny) Trost of Waterloo and Phyllis (Tom) Housladen of West Lafayette, Ind.; and two brothers, Edward "Pete" (Marissa) and Joseph "Patrick" (Wanda Stahl), both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers, John, Richard and Jerry; and a sister, Sheila Francis.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorial fund: has been established, to be designated at a later date.
