WATERLOO — Donald Joseph Laures, 79, of Waterloo, died Monday, Aug. 9, at home.

He was born Aug. 4, 1931, in New Hampton, son of Nicholas and Loretta Meighan Laures. He married Janet Wagner on April 7, 1956, in Iowa City.

Mr. Laures served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a foreman at Rath Packing Co. for 32 years and worked at Service Master for eight years, retiring in 1990.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Mark (Dede Cleveland) Laures of Waterloo and Chad (Kim) Laures of Virginia; a daughter, Teresa Neuendorf of Cedar Falls; and an ex-daughter-in-law, Lori McCoy of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bernadeen (Larry) Novack of Minneapolis, Agnes (Barry) Pearson of Arizona, Mary Jo Harlan of Minneapolis and Regina (Ron) Gustas of Denver, Colo.; and two brothers, Ray (JoAnn) Laures of DeWitt and Paul (Dorothy) Laures of Rockford.

Preceded in death by: a brother-in-law, Art Harlan; and a son-in-law, Bruce Neuendorf.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church.
