LA PORTE CITY - Wanda Lou McQuilkin, 81, formerly of La Porte City, died Wednesday, July 28, at Friendship Village, Waterloo.

She was born April 21, 1929, in Centerville, daughter of Dwight "Mike" and Wilma McDanel Weatherly. She married Kirk McQuilkin Oct. 19, 1947, in La Porte City.

Mrs. McQuilkin taught organ and piano lessons, and played both at the Presbyterian Church in La Porte City for 30 years.

Survived by: her husband; two daughters, Dianne (Max) Reckling of Des Moines and Luanne (David) Smith of Madison, Wis.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Weatherly of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by: her parents.

Memorial Services: 1 p.m. Monday at La Porte City Funeral Service, with inurnment in West View Cemetery, La Porte City. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to Friendship Village Med Center, in lieu of flowers.

Wanda enjoyed her huge garden, was a wonderful cook and loved music. Music was her life as was the church.

"We will miss you, wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma, but we know you were ready and will be playing your music in heaven. Your memory will always be in our hearts.''
