Fell Asleep While Smoking And Dies

Smoldering Bedding Suffocates Clyde Wetlaufer.

Mother Finds Body and Calls for City Pulmotor.

Clyde Wetlaufer, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Wetlaufer, 1414 Jefferson street, was found suffocated in bed about 1 a.m. today. The supposition is that he had retired smoking a cigaret. The bed clothing ignited and smoldered and the boy was smothered by smoke.

The mother, who was asleep in the room below was aroused shortly after 1 a.m. and went to investigate. Mrs. Wetlaufer telephoned for her husband, night sergeant at the police station, and for a doctor.

The fire department conveyed the pulmotor and everything possible was done to revive the victim.

Cylde Wetlaufer is survived by his parents, one brother, Ralph, and a sister Rhue.

The body is at the O'Keefe & Towne mortuary pending funeral arrangements.
