EVANSDALE - Earl W. Medearis, 74, of Evansdale, formerly of Independence, died Wednesday, July 21, at home following a long illness.

He was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Waterloo, son of Willard Joseph Medearis and Erma Smith Medearis. He married Linda Ann White on Dec. 10, 1960, in Galena, Ill.

Following his educational years, he served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Medearis worked at Brownies Station and Titus Manufacturing in Waterloo. He worked 21 years as a machinist at Deere and Co. in Waterloo before retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Raymond, UAW Local 838 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 764, both in Waterloo.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, James (Debra) of Hudson and Michael (Grainne) of North St. Paul, Minn.; a daughter, Terri (Matt) Aschbrenner of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Karen (Lloyd) Thill of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Mary (Louis) Hall of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a sister in infancy; and a sister, Betty Stewart.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, with burial in Poyner Township Cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to the family.
He enjoyed being outdoors, nature, hunting and fishing, while spending time with his family whom he dearly loved.
