WATERLOO - Ruby Mae Scott, 81, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, July 20, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

She was born May 25, 1929, in Gary, Ind., daughter of Daniel L. Scott and Nina Pearson. She married Albert Downing Sr. in 1946 in Gary, Ind. He preceded her in death. She married Herman Tate in 1952, in Gary, Ind. They later divorced.
She was formerly employed at the Ramada Inn.

Survived by: three daughters, Patricia Ann (A.C. Fuqua) of Lima, Ohio, Carmela Tate of Richardson, Texas, and Denise Tate of Waterloo; two sons, Albert Jr. (Mary) of Gary, Ind., and Van Arthur Downing of Harrisburg, Pa.; two sisters, Rosa Lee Fields and Patricia J. Woodley, both of Lima, Ohio; a brother, Daniel (Marlene) Scott of Merrianna, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her parents; a brother, Sonny; and a grandson, Kelly A. Burke.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Faith Temple Baptist Church, with private burial. Friends may call Sander's Funeral Service today from 5 to 6 p.m. and for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to 1648 Mount Carmel Drive, Waterloo, where they will be receiving friends
