CEDAR FALLS — Roger E. Palmer, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, July 18, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 12, 1924, in Algona, son of Edwin and Bessie Turner Palmer. He married Luella "Lu" Bierle on Oct. 12, 1946, in Algona.

Mr. Palmer served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He operated Cedar Heights Shell and Hudson Road Skelly service stations and later owned and operated Roger's Union 76 service station on First Street in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: his wife; three sons, David (Val) of Lakewood, Colo., Dick of Burnsville, Minn., and Dale (Lisa) of Alpharetta, Ga.; a daughter, Dianne Mae (Roger) Sharpe of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Kay Christensen of Lakeside, Ore.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Margaret Bergman and Martha McGowan.

Public visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Home, where there will be a 2 p.m. time of sharing, with military honors conducted by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. A reception will follow at 3 p.m. at the Cypress Lounge, 209 State St., Cedar Falls.
