WATERLOO — Dennis W. Ortner, 70, of Waterloo, died Friday, July 16, at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center.

He was born May 13, 1940, in Waterloo, son of Casper and Clara Kurtz Ortner. He married Carol Ann Thompson, and they later divorced. He married Lynn Bertram, and they later divorced.

Mr. Ortner was an automotive and agricultural mechanic for many years until his retirement. Following retirement he was an antique dealer in New Ulm, Minn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survived by: three daughters, Deb Ortner of Waterloo, Katherine (Matthew) Ewing of New Ulm and Rebecca (Morris) Morrow of Belfast, Ireland; three grandchildren, Kayla, Emily and Scott; four brothers, Roy (Delores) of Oelwein, Ronald (Lucille) of Marshfield, Wis., Max (Pattie) of Waterloo and Victor (Charlene) of Independence; and his former wife, Lynn Cleland of Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Preceded in death by: three brothers, Leo, Eugene and Hugh; and a sister, Marguerite.

Public visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Inurnment will be later at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter.
