HUDSON - Wesley "Bud" Epling, 81, of Hudson, died Saturday, July 17, at Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center of the Cedar Falls Western Home Communities.

He was born March 29, 1929, in Sioux City, son of Arthur and Helen Cooper Epling. He married Lila Mitchell Aug. 7, 1955, in Milford.

He graduated from Elk Point, S.D. High School in 1947. Mr. Epling received a bachelor of science in education degree from Wayne State Teachers College in 1955, a master's degree in Greeley, Colorado, and performed graduate work at UNI in industrial technology. He taught science in Dunlap in 1955-61, was high school principal at Woodward Granger from 1961-67 and at Hudson High School from 1967-77. He taught industrial technology in Jesup in 1977, retiring in 1990. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survived by, his wife; two sons, Bruce (Valerie) of Chandler, Arizona, and Bob of Waynesville, Ohio; a sister, Elaine (Leslie) Deman of Elk River, Minnesota; and a sister-in-law, Teri Epling of Hardeeville, So. Carolina.

Preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Epling.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hudson United Methodist Church, with burial in Hudson Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, with a public Masonic service at 7 p.m. by Reinbeck Coin Lodge 394 A.F. & A.M.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Wesley Epling Scholarship Fund to be established through the Hudson Educational Fund.
