WATERLOO — Thomas McDade, 78, of Waterloo, formerly of Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, July 14, at Ravenwood Healthcare Center of natural causes.

He was born April 27, 1932, in Norristown, Pa., son of Edward Joseph and Viola Blanche Sykes McDade. He married Elva Sara Shaner in 1956 in Elkton, Md. She preceded him in death.

He graduated from Norristown High School and entered the U.S. Air Force from 1952-59. He played football for the Air Force. Mr. McDade was an iron worker with Bethlehem Steel while residing in Folcroft, Pa., where he worked on the Alaskan Pipeline.

Survived by: two sons, Thomas J. (Liz) McDade of Milton, Del., and John P. (Madeline) McDade of Aston, Pa.; three daughters, Sharon L. McDade of Webster, N.Y., Karen M. (Robert) Loveland of Janesville and Jennifer M. (Pat) Scorzetti of Brookhaven, Pa.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three brothers, Paul McDade and Edward McDade, both of Pennsylvania, and Mike McDade of Florida.

Preceded in death by: a son, Michael E. McDade; and a sister, Dorothy Lynn Coffey.

Private services: at a later d ate in Pennsylvania. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, is assisting the family.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Waterloo office or Alzheimer's Association.
