CEDAR FALLS - Wayne A. Carter, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, June 20, at Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Center of natural causes.

He was born July 20, 1921, in Waterloo, son of Jack and Nell Walker Carter. He married Evelyn F. Russell on April 13, 1947, in Waterloo. She died Dec. 30, 1995.

Mr. Carter served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a self-employed barber, retiring in July 1983 after 40 years.

Survived by: a daughter, Candace (Bruce) Zelle of Naperville, Ill.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Carter of Waterloo; and his companion, Evelyn Thomas of Concord, Calif.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a daughter, Linda Yuska.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Garden of Memories, both in Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour before services Thursday at the chapel.
