WATERLOO - Paul Arnold Van Hyfte, 91, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, June 16, at Vitas Hospice Unit in San Antonio.

He was born July 29, 1918, in Huron, S.D., son of Paul and Emma Christensen Van Hyfte. He married Sarah B. Yaggy on July 27, 1943, in Solway, Minn.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked at Rath Packing Co., retiring in 1981.

Survived by: two daughters, RomaKay May of Bloomington, Minn., and Lucinda Curtis of San Antonio; a son, David (Pamela) Van Hyfte of Maynard; a sister, Marilyn (Art) Sakioka of California; a brother, Eldon (Tillie) Van Hyfte of California; five grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
