CEDAR FALLS - Helen Catherine Mizner, 93, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, June 15, at Bickford Cottage.

She was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Fairbury, Neb., daughter of George and Agnes Haggerty Higgins. She married Harold Mizner on Dec. 23, 1944, in El Paso, Texas.

Mrs. Mizner graduated from St. Agnes Academy, Alliance, Neb., in 1934 and from the University of Nebraska in 1941 with a bachelor's degree in teaching. She taught elementary school in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois and her last 16 years at St. Edward School, Waterloo.

Survived by: her husband; a daughter, Elizabeth (Michael) Harn of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Laura (Chris) Rohner of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Michael (Julie) Harn of Waterloo; and two great-grandsons, Michael and Ryan Harn of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a son, Gregory Michael; five brothers, Jack, Ted, Charles, Don and Al Higgins; and two sisters, Esther Lee and Sister Agnes Virginia.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church, Cedar Valley Hospice or St. Edward School.

Helen valued her faith, family and her Irish heritage.
