CEDAR FALLS - Doris Emma Jansen Culwell, 92, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, June 11, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home of natural causes.

She was born April 7, 1918, in Thompson Township, Ill., daughter of Louis and Esther Dotzel Miller. She married John Jansen Oct. 12, 1941. He died in 1955. She then married John Culwell and later Arthur Culwell Jr.; both preceded her in death.

Mrs. Culwell graduated from school in Galena, Ill., in 1937 and was primarily a homemaker, but also worked in housekeeping at Schoitz Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, and Bender Hall at UNI, where she retired in 1982. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church , Waterloo, where she had served as president of the women of the church and sang in the choir. She also sang in the choir at the senior citizen choir at SACs in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: a son, Ron (Donna) Jansen of The Colony, Texas; several cousins; and many friends in Waterloo, Platteville, Wis., and Galena.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waterloo, with burial Wednesday in Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Public visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Good Shepherd Chapel. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the church.

Doris enjoyed sewing, making quits for Lutheran World Relief, cooking, traveling and spending time with her son in Texas.
