Military funeral services by American Legion, for Emil Keding, whose body arrived from France last Friday, were conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. from Legion hall to St. Peter's Evangelical church. The body was interred in St. Peter's cemetery under military honors. Emil Keding, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Keding, Waterloo, was born April 2, 1894 in Tripoli, Ia. He was called in service July 34 (sic), 1918 when he left for Camp Pike. About two and one-half months later he was sent to New York and soon sailed for France. He was a member of C. 1, S. A. R. D. infantry. On the ship on which he sailed were several acquaintances. George Crittenden, and Louis Weike. Information was received that he was taken sick on board five days before landing at St. Nazaire, Oct. 6, 1918, and at once taken to the hospital where he died Oct. 8, 1918, and was buried at St. Nazaire cemetery a few days later. At the time of his death he was 24 years old. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Keding, Waterloo, Mrs. Ernest Haase, Douglas township, Bremer county, and three other sisters in Waterloo survive him.
