Former Waterloo Man Died in France Oct. 1

Pvt. William Snavely, Co. C, 13th engineers, died in France Oct. 1 of pneumonia, relatives in this city are advised. Pvt. Snavely, who was born and reared in Elma, Ia., enlisted in St. Paul in June, 1917, and went directly to France. His death occurred in Mercy Military hospital, Souilly, France.

Pvt. Snavely was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Snavely, 156 Argyle street, who moved to Mission, Tex., some time ago. An aunt, Mrs. R. Eckert, resides at 156 Argyle street, there is a brother, John, at Oelwein, and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Weinfeler, Texas.

Pvt. Snavely was employed as fireman for the Great Western railway when he enlisted and after reaching France was promoted to engineer. A memorial service was conducted by his comrades in Co. C soon after his death and a report of it was received today by his aunt.
