Dead On Field Of World War

John DeWild, Former Waterloo Boy, Gave Life in France on Oct. 2.

Killed in action on the battlefields of France Oct. 2, is the fate of John DeWild (sic), formerly of Waterloo, and well known among dairy circles here. News of his death was received by former associates today.

John DeWild, who was 24 years old, came to this country from Holland about eight years ago with his family, who took charge of the Galloway Netherlands dairy farm, their knowledge of dairy stock making them especially valuable in the development of the fine herd there. A year or more ago the family removed to Mr. Galloway's farm near New Hampton. John and his brother, Albert, soon after enlisted in the army. The brother is now stationed at Camp Merritt, N. J.

Surviving the dead soldier are his parents, two brothers and a sister at New Hampton, and the brother in service.
