WATERLOO - Merle Marie Redding, 92, of Waterloo, died Thursday, May 6, at Bickford Cottage, Cedar Falls.

She was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Waterloo, daughter of Matthias Daniel and Margaret Hoy Flaherty. She married Clifford Redding on June 7, 1941, in Waterloo. He died Sept. 9, 1980.

Mrs. Redding worked in the women's apparel department at Black's Department Store for 20 years.

Survived by: two sons, John and Daniel, both of Waterloo; and two grandchildren, Justin Redding of Seattle and Michelle (Kevin) Rose of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: her parents; an infant daughter, Marie; a brother, Edward Flaherty; and two sisters, Loretta and Eleanor Flaherty.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with a 4:30 p.m. rosary service. Visitation also an hour before services Monday at the church.
