WATERLOO - Joan E. White, 80, of Waterloo, died Thursday, May 6, at Covenant Medical Center from complications of pneumonia.

She was born July 6, 1929, in Council Bluffs, daughter of James and Lucille Thomas Hansen. She married Searle White on Sept. 9, 1950, in Sidney.

Mrs. White worked in retail at J.C. Penney Co. for 18 years, retiring in 1984.

Survived by: her husband; a son, Jim (Tanya) of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Carol (Ron) Pelley of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie) White of Memphis, Jennifer (Bill) Shearer of Jackson, Miss., Brandon Pelley of Waterloo and Kari Pelley of Davenport; a great-granddaughter, Taylor; and a brother, Jerry (Lettie) Hansen of Council Bluffs.

Preceded in death by: her parents; and a brother, Gene Hansen.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour before services Saturday the church.
