Stephen Mashek, U.S. Army Colonel (Ret.), 67 of Oro Valley, Ariz., passed away April 24, 2010.

Stephen was born Dec. 16, 1942 in Waterloo, Iowa and graduated from West Waterloo High School and attended the University of Iowa and the University of Wisconsin-Osh Kosh. Stephen was a retired U.S. Army Colonel and retired in 2004 as District Manager from Kimberly Clark after 30 years of service.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Mary DuFrane Mashek; son Joseph W. Mashek; daughter Monica R. Mashek and brother Dan (Linda) Mashek of Eldridge, Iowa. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Jeanette Mashek.

Stephen was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Alumni, United States Golf Association and St. Mark Parish Council.

A funeral mass was held in Arizona. Donations may be made to the St. Mark Building Fund or the Steve Mashek Memorial SAE Scholarship Fund, c/o Dan Mashek, 311 Country Club Ct., Eldridge, IA 52748.
