WATERLOO - Vera I. Lang, 88, of Clive, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, April 24, at ManorCare Health Services of leukemia.

She was born March 11, 1922, in Cedar Falls, daughter of John and Elsie Byers McCarter. She married Ernest H. Lang on Feb. 10, 1940, in Waverly. He died Aug. 19, 2007.

Mrs. Lang was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Valley Community Church.

Survived by: a daughter, Linda (Richard) Davis of Waterloo; a son, Loren (Judy) of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, David (Teri Steele) Sivertsen, Diane (James) Hurley, Dawn Batchelder, Jaesen (Heather) Lang, Timothy (Shirley) Davis and Thomas Davis; 11 great-grandchildren, Alazda, Zara, Megan, Jessica, Jennifer, Emily, Cody, Dakota, Ian, Isaac and Isabel; four great-great-grandchildren, Cameron, Caleb, Braiden and Zoe; a brother, Jim McCarter of Waterloo; and a sister, Alta Lydon of Oregon.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Laura Lang; two sisters, Merle Aikey and Eula Thomas; and three brothers, Bud, Doc and John.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Katharine Graham Pahl Chapel at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, with burial in the cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Tuesday at the cemetery chapel. Locke Funeral Home assisted the family.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Community Church.

Vera's family would like to thank the people who cared for her during her long and courageous battle with leukemia.
