WATERLOO - Bert L. Wintz, 77, of Waterloo, died at home Sunday, April 25.

He was born Jan. 13, 1933, in Butler County, son of Emmet and Luella Knoll Wintz. He married Peggy Burma on Oct. 15, 1952, at Washington Reformed Church, rural Ackley.

Mr. Wintz owned and operated Winmor Construction Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1998. He was past president of the Associated General Contractors of Iowa.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Mike (Sue) of Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Melody (Brian) Wintz-Hostetler of St. Louis; and two grandchildren, Lili Hostetler and Matt Wintz.

Preceded in death by: a granddaughter, Sarah Wintz; a brother, Earl "Bud;" and a sister, Ruth Smoot.

Memorial Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with a private family entombment in the Waterloo Memorial Park Columbarium. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway.

Memorials: may be directed to the church, American Cancer Society or Cedar Valley Hospice.
